The White House on Monday debunked a rumor that President Donald Trump would be putting a 90-day pause on tariffs.

"Wrong. "Fake News," the Rapid Response White House page responded to the rumor on the social media platform, X.

A financial analysis account on X reported that Trump was going to announce a 90-day pause on tariffs. The story was shared by Reuters and CNBC.

Last week, Trump announced a slew of tariffs on countries globally, which has roiled financial markets worldwide.

This has resulted in some countries such as Israel and Japan reaching out to negotiate while countries like China have responded with retaliatory tariffs.
