Trump's top domestic policy adviser resigns
The adviser, Joe Grogan, reportedly has said since December that he planned to resign
President Trump’s top domestic policy adviser, Joe Grogan, reportedly has resigned and is set to leave the White House next month.
Grogan has played a major role in health policy, including the coronavirus response. It’s not publicly known who will replace Grogan, whose departure was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Grogan later told Politico that he’s leaving on May 24 and on good terms.
“I promised my wife two years and I’m in my fourth year,” said Grogan, who joined the administration in early 2017. “No one outworked me.”
Grogan has since last year served as director of the White House Domestic Policy Council and was instrumental on such key issues as more affordable drug prices and efforts to ban “surprise” medical bills.
He also was reportedly at odds with Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar but said his departure was unrelated to that matter.
