President Donald Trump on Wednesday met with Taoiseach of Ireland Micheál Martin at the White House.
Before the meeting, Martin expressed the importance of the U.S. and Ireland having a good relationship as a lot of Irish business is conducted in the U.S., according to The Hill newspaper.
The two leaders are supposed to join lawmakers on Capitol Hill for lunch.
At 5 p.m. EST, Trump will hold a St. Patrick's Day reception with Martin.
The meeting comes right after the European Union said it would impose retaliatory tariffs on the U.S. in response to Trump's tariffs.
