President Donald Trump will give a one month exemption on his stiff new tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada for automakers in the U.S., White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Wednesday.

“We spoke with the big three auto dealers,” Leavitt said at a press brief, reading a statement from Trump. “We are going to give a one month exemption on any autos coming through USMCA."

This announcement comes after Trump had a meeting Wednesday with the leaders of Ford, General Motors and Stellantis, according to the Associated Press.

Trump imposed 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico on Tuesday, saying it was in response to the “unacceptable levels" of illicit drugs such as fentanyl being smuggled into the U.S. at its Canada and Mexico’s borders.
