Former first lady Rosalynn Carter dies at 96
She is survived by her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, who is 99 years old.
Former first lady Rosalynn Carter passed away Sunday at her Georgia home as she was surrounded by family, according to the Carter Center. She was 96.
She is survived by her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, who is 99 years old. She is also survived by her three children, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, per the Carter Foundation.
"Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished," former President Carter said. "She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me."
Rosalynn Carter was diagnosed with dementia earlier this year. She entered hospice late last week.
