Parents of woman reportedly slain by ISIS praise Trump admin for taking out her alleged killer

The parents of a young woman reportedly slain by ISIS praised the administration of President Trump for ordering the raid that took out her alleged killer, saying at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night that they support the president "because of his commitment to make and keep America great."

Marsha and Carl Mueller – who were also present at this year's State of the Union address in February – lost their daughter Kayla, a humanitarian worker, in 2015 after she had been held captive by ISIS in Syria for two years.

Islamic militants said she was killed by a Jordanian airstrike, yet at least one witness indicated that ISIS founder Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi may have ordered her execution. 

Claiming the Obama administration failed to act to save their daughter, the Muellers noted in their speech Thursday that the U.S. Army under the Trump administration successfully carried out a raid on al-Baghdadi's compound, killing the terrorist leader. 

"All Kayla wanted was to make it home," Marsha Mueller said. "Carl and I support Donald Trump because of his commitment to make and keep America great, not with the power of the government, but with the passion of people like Kayla – Americans who, even in the darkest days, always have more fight left inside of them."

She also said her daughter was a fighter and a doer, like Trump.

The late October 2019 military undertaking that resulted in al-Baghdadi's death was titled "Operation Kayla Mueller." The terrorist leader reportedly killed himself and two children with a suicide belt as U.S. forces closed in on him.
