Supporters of Palestine turned out in force across New York City on Friday amid ongoing clashes between the Israel Defense Forces and Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

A major incursion by the terrorist group over the weekend saw Hamas storm border towns, seize hostages, and inflict considerable civilian casualties. The IDF has since launched retaliatory strikes on Gaza, prompting former Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal to call for global protests.

American cities tightened security in anticipation of the planned "Day of Rage," fearing the demonstrations could get out of hand. New York City, for its part, has seen thousands of demonstrators take to the streets.

The demonstrations come as Israel is expected to mount ground operations into the Gaza Strip to remove Hamas from control of the densely populated areas. While the IDF has warned civilians to flee the area, neighboring Egypt has thus far declined to admit any refugees across its border, prompting widespread fears of mass civilian casualties.
