Ex-D.C. police officer attacked Jan. 6 attends TV hearing, resulting in scuffle, one arrest

Former D.C. police officer Michael Fanone, who was attacked by protesters during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, was harassed Thursday evening after attending a congressional hearing on the matter

Several videos circulating online show groups of people following the former officer, chiding him with such questions as "Are you a real police officer?"

Fanone, who previously testified about his experience during the riot, quit his law enforcement job last year and now works for CNN. He says he experienced a heart attack during the incident, in addition to being assaulted by a group that had entered the Capitol.

He was reportedly shocked multiple times with his own taser.

Thus far, two men have pleaded guilty to assaulting Fanone during the riot.

In videos from Thursday night's incident, a man who appears to be carrying a banner showing former President Trump with the words "toxic loser" scrawled across can be seen pushing protesters away from Fanone.

At one point, the banner-carriers' actions appear to cause a second man to fall to the ground and begin yelling.

The fallen man then reports the incident to police, who proceed to handcuff the man with the banner.
