X owner Elon Musk on Monday appeared to blame Ukraine for an outage of his social media platform, stating the IP addresses behind the alleged cyberattack originated from the European country.

The statement comes after Musk claimed a "massive cyberattack" was behind the outage, which affected thousands of users. He claimed the new attack is larger than previous ones, which hinted that a foreign power could be behind the outage.

The accusation also comes as the relationship between the U.S. and Ukraine is strained because of conflict between the Trump administration and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky over the war with Russia.

"We're not sure exactly what happened but there was a massive cyber attack to try to bring down the X system with IP addresses originating in the Ukraine area," Musk told Fox Business host Larry Kudlow.

The platform experienced considerable outages or slowed function in the middle of Monday.

Musk also told Kudlow that he expects his 100-person DOGE team to grow to a maximum of 200, and that they have permeated nearly every Washington agency, according to Politico. And he confirmed his goal of achieving $1 trillion in savings.
