Peter Manfredonia, the 23-year-old murder suspect from Connecticut, was taken into custody Wednesday evening in Hagerstown, Md.

Manfredonia was arrested without incident by a team that included members of the Maryland State Police, the Connecticut State Police, the U.S. Marshals, and the FBI.

The interagency law enforcement team located the fugitive in the parking lot of a travel center just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday. He is being processed and held in Washington County, Md., pending extradition proceedings from Connecticut.

The University of Connecticut senior is suspected of killing of two people in the past several days, and seriously injuring a third.

Police say that a motive for the attacks is still unclear. Prior to his arrest, the man’s family sent a message through their legal counsel. “Peter, from your parents, who love you, please turn yourself in,” said attorney Michael Dolan on Monday evening.
