Trump asks Supreme Court to block sentencing in New York hush money case

President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday asked the Supreme Court to call off his sentencing scheduled for later this week in his New York hush money case.

The request by Trump and his lawyers follows New York courts refused to postpone the sentencing by Juan M. Merchan, the judge who presided over Trump’s trial and conviction last May on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

His lawyers have cited as they tried to have his New York conviction tossed out the high court’s ruling giving him broad immunity from criminal prosecution , according to the Associated Press
