The Supreme Court on Tuesday appeared likely to rule in favor of Maryland parents who have objections to LGBTQ content in elementary schools in Montgomery County.

The court heard oral arguments from lawyers who represented parents who argued the county's Board of Education violated their religious rights by allowing stories about gay and transgender characters in elementary schools.

A ruling is expected in June, according to NBC News.

Orthodox Christian and Muslim parents together argued that children should be able to opt out the English language arts curriculum.

Conservative-leaning Justices Brett Kavanaugh and John Roberts appeared skeptical of why the school board was arguing it couldn't allow the opt-outs.

"Is that a realistic concept when you are talking about a 5-year-old?" asked Robert, part of the high court's 6-3 conservative majority.
