Former TV star Loughlin, to be sentenced in college admission scandal, faces prison time
Nearly 30 parents have admitted to participating in the scheme involving rigged test scores and bogus athletic credentials
Actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer husband Mossimo Giannulli are scheduled to be sentenced Friday in connection with pleading guilty last year to a college admission scandal in which they paid half a million dollars in bribes to get their two daughters into the University of Southern California.
Federal prosecutors are calling for Loughlin to serve two months behind bars and Giannulli five months.
They will be sentenced in separate hearings held via video conference because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Associated Press.
Loughlin and Giannulli are among nearly 30 prominent parents who have admitted to charges in the scheme, which according to authorities involved bribes to get their children into college with rigged test scores or fake athletic credentials, the wire service also reports.
