Washington Republicans tell House members stop having in-person town halls, amid Trump cuts backlash
President Donald Trump dismissed the protesters at the town halls, claiming they were "paid troublemakers."
The National Republican Congressional Committee is asking its House members to stop holding in-person town hallse event due to backlash over cuts from the Trump administration.
North Carolina Rep. Richard Hudson, chairman of the committee, whose principle mission is the get Republicans elected and reelected to the House, had a closed door meeting with chamber members about the issue, sources told the news outlet Politico.
President Donald Trump has said the distrupters are "paid troublemakers."
"It is all part of the game for the Democrats, but just like our big LANDSLIDE ELECTION, it’s not going to work for them!," he also wrote on TRUTH Social.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., also referred to the disrupters as professional protesters and said it wouldn't be "wise" to play into what they were doing.
