Johnson: GOP using 'everything in our arsenal' for oversight, investigations after Trump conviction
"We are the rule of law party. Chaos is not a conservative value," Johnson says
House Speaker Mike Johnson said that the House GOP would use "everything in our arsenal" to investigate “political retribution in the court system to go after political opponents" in the aftermath of former President Trump's conviction in the hush money case in New York.
"We are the rule of law party. Chaos is not a conservative value. We have to fight back, and we will with everything in our arsenal. But we will do that within the confines of the rule of law," Johnson said on "Fox News Sunday."
He noted that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and one of his prosecutors have been invited to testify before the Select Subcommittee on Weaponization of the Federal Government. The hearing has not yet been scheduled.
"The purpose of the hearing is to investigate what these prosecutors are doing at the state and federal level to use politics, you know, political retribution in the court system to go after political opponents, federal officials like Donald Trump. That’s a really important thing for us to delve into,” Johnson said.
