Greene to propose bill to audit U.S. funding of Ukrainian war effort
"We have no idea where all this money’s going," congresswoman says.
Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene this week said she would introduce a bill to audit the U.S.'s ongoing funding of Ukraine's war effort against Russia.
Greene made the reveal while speaking to Tucker Carlson on Fox News on Thursday. “It’s going to force Congress to give the American people an audit,” she told the host.
“And that is exactly what the American people need, an audit of Ukraine, because we have no idea where all this money’s going," she added.
The congresswoman said she was "looking forward to seeing my Republican colleagues support" the measure.
The Biden administration on Friday, meanwhile, disputed suggestions that the funding of the Ukrainian war effort had been misused.
National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters on a call that the executive branch had "seen no indication to date that any of the resources or weapons we've provided to Ukraine have been misused, misplaced, stolen, sold on the black market or captured by the Russians."
