GOP Rep. Nehls leaves conservative House Freedom Caucus after Rep. Davidson was voted out
"I just didn’t think kicking him out was a very good idea," Nehls said. "I said, ‘If you get rid of him then I’ll be resigning.’"
Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas,, announced his resignation from the conservative House Freedom Caucus after Rep. Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, was voted out of the group.
"I just didn’t think kicking him out was a very good idea," Nehls said, according to a report. "I said, ‘If you get rid of him then I’ll be resigning.’"
Davidson was reportedly booted for endorsing John McGuire over Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., the House Freedom Caucus chairman, in the Virginia 5th district GOP primary race.
Trump also endorsed McGuire. He defeated Good by 374 votes. It is unclear if there will be a recount in the race.
