House GOPers want star J6 committee witness Hutchinson to give them docs panel failed to preserve
House Republicans say requested docs are relevant to J6 safety and intel failures
A top House Oversight panel chairman is requesting documents from Cassidy Hutchinson, former White House aide to former President Trump, for his investigation of security and intelligence failures related to the Jan. 6, 2021 riot.
"It is imperative the subcommittee review any and all materials pertaining to January 6, 2021, to fulfill its oversight responsibilities and ensure the safety and security of the United States Capitol," wrote Rep. Barry Loudermilk, chairman of the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight, in a letter dated May 14.
Loudermilk argues in the letter that the Democrat-led House Jan. 6 select committee "failed to properly archive their records" and the subcommittee he leads "has no choice but to repeat much of the work of the Select Committee to understand their investigative findings."
He said the subcommittee is working to determine exactly why all of the records were not preserved. These records include "as many as 900 interview summaries or transcripts, over one terabyte of digital data, and over 100 deleted or encrypted."
Loudermilk is also seeking documents and communications from Hutchinson related to "potential publishing or book deals or related compensation" from June 30, 2021 through May 14, 2024.
Hutchinson, 27, publicly testified against Trump during the Jan. 6 select committee investigation in June 2022. She later released a book titled, Enough.
