Army Secretary says 'seven-foot non-scalable fence' to protect Capitol following breach

The move comes after the U.S. Capitol building was breached on Wednesday.

Following the breach of the U.S. Capitol that occurred on Wednesday, Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said on Thursday that a fence was being constructed.

"At 9:00 a.m. this morning we began erecting a seven-foot non-scalable fence" from Constitution Avenue to Independence Avenue and from First Street to somewhere near a pond in front of the Capitol. The fence will remain up the next 30 days at a minimum.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Thursday afternoon delivered a brief statement saying the the Trump administration condemned the violence that occurred on Wednesday
