Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott is expected to meet with President Donald Trump on Wednesday, the same day California Democratic Gov. Newsom is meeting at the White House with the president.

Neither the White House nor Abbott's office has publicly said what brings the governor to Washington and/or what they will discuss.

"Looking forward to meeting with President Trump today," Abbott wrote on the social media platform, X. "Earlier this morning I spoke with Tom Homan about immigration enforcement strategies. Today, and the coming days, should be great for Texas."

Homan is a law enforcement officer and the former Acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He currently serves as Trump's "border czar."

Newsom is expected to discuss with Trump California water policies and aid for the recent wildfires in Los Angeles County in which 29 died and 16,000 homes were destroyed.
