Police interviewing man seen on Dominican Republic beach near same time as US student went missing

Konanki is believed to have drown after she and another person were hit by a big wave.

Police in the Dominican Republic are interviewing a man seen on a beach last week at about the same time as the missing University of Pittsburgh student. 

The student, Sudiksha Konanki, 20, was last seen on security camera footage was at about 4:15 a.m. on March 6, the Dominican Republic Public Ministry told ABC News.

She was on a trip with six female students from the university. Konanki is a legal permanent resident of the U.S. and a citizen of India. The other women went back to the hotel, but Konanki reported stayed behind with another person. 

ABC reports Konanki is believed to have drown after she and another person were hit by a big wave. 

Konanki is from northern Virginia just outside of Washington, D.C.
