Police remove protesters occupying Trump Tower over detainment of anti-Israel Columbia grad student
The protesters were seen holding signs that read "Free Mahmoud, Free Palestine" and "Fight Nazis Not Students."
The New York Police Department on Thursday removed dozens protesters inside the lobby of Trump Tower in New York City to protest the detainment of of a Columbia University graduate who helped lead pro-Palestinian protest on the Ivy League campus.
The detainee, Mahmoud Khalil, was taken into custody over the weekend by federal agents and is now reportedly in a holding facility in Louisiana awaiting a hearing. The Trump administration wants to deport Khalil despite him having a Green Card, which has sparked some protest.
