President-elect Donald Trump's pick for FBI director, Kash Patel, was targeted in an Iranian cyberattack, according to news reports.

The FBI determined that Iran was behind the attack and said that there are three individuals who participated in a “hack and leak” operation, according to The Hill newspaper.

"Kash Patel was a key part of the first Trump administration’s efforts against the terrorist Iranian regime and will implement President Trump’s policies to protect America from adversaries as the FBI Director,” a Trump spokesperson said in a statement.

Iran has denied conducting a cyberattack.

Last month, the DOJ filed criminal charges against Iranian officials who were allegedly involved in a plot to murder Trump.

Iran also denied involvement in that.
