Comer says key witness testified he met with Joe Biden and talked business, contradicting president
Energy executive latest to contradict President's claim he wasn't involved in family's foreign businesses.
A U.S. business executive who partnered with Hunter and James Biden on a deal involving a Chinese energy firm testified to Congress on Tuesday that he met with Joe Biden and discussed specific business matters with the future president, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer told Just the News.
The statements from Tony Bobulinski, former head of the Sinohawk company, during a transcribed interview in the House impeachment inquiry are the latest to contradict the President's claim he wasn't involved in family's foreign businesses.
"Bobulinski confirmed that he met with Joe Biden on more than one occasion and discussed business," Comer said during an interview with the Just the News, No Noise television show. "Joe Biden knew he was going in business with with Hunter and with Jim Biden, and he knew that the business was selling the Biden brand.
"Tony Bobulinski said under oath today that the business the Bidens were engaged in was selling the Biden brand. They were influence peddling," Comer added.
Bobulinski's testimony backed up claims in earlier congressional interviews with former Hunter Biden partners Devon Archer and Rob Walker and an FBI interview with James Biden claiming Joe Biden met with foreign clients.
Those meetings incluided with an executive of the Burisma Holdings firm in Ukraine and with Ye Jianming, the former chairman of CEFC China Energy. Both foreign firms are at the heart of the impeachment inquiry.
Comer said the conflict between the testimony of family friends and associates and the president's own claims has grown so large that it has become a major focus of impeachment.
"Remember, he said numerous times he never met with any of them. He's even said he didn't even know that Hunter was on the board of Burisma for a long time. I mean, lie after lie after lie," he said.
In a separate press statement, Comer divulged that Bobulinski's interview session was contentious but the witness remained consistent and steadfast.
"Mr. Bobulinski was unshakeable in his testimony today, providing facts Democrats didn’t want to hear," Comer said. "As such, Democrats put on a shameful display as they yelled at Mr. Bobulinski, cut him off, belittled him, and threatened him. It’s behavior that I’ve frankly never seen before in a transcribed interview.
"We will soon release the transcript to provide the American people with transparency about Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s shady schemes and Democrats’ efforts to smear Mr. Bobulinski for blowing the whistle," the chairman added.
