ABC suspends senior political correspondent after Project Veritas video surfaces

ABC News has suspended longtime political correspondent David Wright for his recorded comments regarding the network's reporting.

The network suspended Wright on Tuesday evening, ahead of a video released Wednesday morning by the guerrilla journalism site Project Veritas. In the video, Wright speaks candidly with an undercover journalist from the project about what he considers the network’s failure to properly deliver “the truth” to viewers.

Wright, who had previously covered presidential campaigns for the network, also revealed that he considers himself a “socialist,” and opined that the network’s entanglement with its parent company, The Walt Disney Company, prevents reporters from focusing on stories.

“It became a profit center, a promotion center. Like now you can’t watch 'Good Morning America' without seeing a Disney princess or a Marvel Avenger appearing. It’s all self-promotional,” complained Wright of the network’s tendencies to vertically integrate their programming with the business endeavors of the parent company.

ABC News has yet to return a request for contact. Wright could not be reached for comment. 

On political matters, Wright said the network often fails to “give Trump credit for what things he does do,” and that his bosses “don’t see an upside in doing the job we’re supposed to do.”
