National security adviser O'Brien says White House hopes more nations will reach deals with Israel
Earlier this week, Israel and the United Arab Emirates announced a historic deal to establish diplomatic relations between their two nations.
President Trump's national security adviser Robert O'Brien during an interview on NBC's Meet the Press expressed optimism that nations will join the Untied Arab Emirates in sealing diplomatic deals with Israel.
Earlier this week Israel and the United Arab Emirates announced a historic deal to establish diplomatic relations between their two nations.
"We think that there's momentum for some additional parties to join and to normalize relations with Israel," O'Brien said. "And so we're quite hopeful that we can build on this momentum."
"We're confident that we think there are a couple of other countries that are gonna get on board soon," he said.
When Chuck Todd asked if Saudi Arabia might ink a deal with Israel, O'Brien said: "it's possible that they could be next."
Other countries may also form agreements, he said.
"We're hopeful, we'll have to see what happens," O'Brien said, adding, "we're talking to a number of countries in addition to Saudi Arabia."
Days after the announcement of the deal, telephone service began operating between the two nations on Sunday.
In a Saturday opinion piece Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner praised the president's Middle East strategy and his involvement in the Israel-UAE deal.
