A senior Hamas official in Turkey said that the terrorist group is nearing a breaking point due to Israel’s military operations in Gaza and the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s dictatorship in Syria, according to a report.

"Hamas is suffering from a genuine leadership crisis. The Al-Aqsa Flood attack backfired on us, submerging us in a sea of blood and crises," the official told the Elaph news service on Sunday, according to a report from by Israel Hayom.

"The most recent blow was the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria, with which Hamas had been attempting to rebuild relations," the official added.

Al-Aqsa Flood is a reference to the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, which claimed the lives of more than 1,200 in Israel.
