White House holds first briefing on US soldier allegedly detained in North Korea

The White House announced Tuesday that it is working with its North Korean counterparts to resolve the incident involving a U.S. soldier believed to be detained in the country. “DOD is in the process of notifying next of kin,” White House Press Secretary Karine-Jean Pierre said Tuesday. “Until that is complete, they will not release identification of the soldier.” An American soldier is believed to have crossed the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea earlier Tuesday while with a border tour group.
