Watchdog tells Congress the HHS ditched safety standard for unaccompanied migrant children

Christi Grimm, Inspector General for the Department of Health and Human Services, testified before a House subcommittee Tuesday on how the federal government “failed” unaccompanied migrant children. Grimm says that dating back to 2021, HHS officials were pressured to skip safety procedures to expedite releasing the minors. Grimm added that staff were afraid to report problems due to fear of retaliation.
