Six people killed in Milan retirement home fire

Six people were killed early on Friday, July 7, after a fire broke out in a care home in Milan, Italy according to the national fire and rescue service. Dozens of people were evacuated from the Casa dei Coniugi on Via dei Cinquecento after the fire began after 1 am on Friday, the Vigili del Fuoco said. The fire service stated other people were in hospital but did not specify how many. Mayor Giuseppe Sala told reporters that the fire began in a room where two women lived, and the smoke killed them and four other people. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
