Lyft driver that escaped Taliban takeover in Afghanistan shot and killed in DC
A Northern Virginia man finishing up a late-night shift of driving for the rideshare company Lyft, was shot in Washington, D.C., just after midnight Monday. Police are now asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect seen on video fleeing the scene. The Metropolitan Police Department said in a press release that officers responded to the 400 block of 11th Street, Northeast, for reports of an unconscious person. When officers arrived, they found an adult man, later identified as 31-year-old Nasrat Ahmad Yar, of Alexandria, Virginia, who was the victim of a shooting inside a vehicle. Nasrat Ahmad Yar fled from Afghanistan to Pennsylvania after the Taliban takeover, and then to Alexandria in 2022.
