Greta Thunberg fined for disobeying police during Swedish climate protest

A Swedish court fined environmental activist Greta Thunberg Monday for disobeying law enforcement during an anti-oil protest last month. Thunberg admitted to causing unrest but pled not guilty to the charges, arguing that she acted out of “necessity” against the fossil fuel industry in the context of a climate emergency. Thunberg was ordered to pay 2,500 kronor (approximately $240).
