Meloni accepted the mandate to form the new government during a meeting with Italian President, Sergio Mattarella, held behind closed doors in Rome’s Quirinale Palace on Friday afternoon, according to a presidential official. Meloni is set to be sworn in as Italy’s new leader on Saturday at 10am local time.
