Giorgia Meloni announces new government after being named prime minister of Italy

Brothers of Italy party leader, Giorgia Meloni, has announced the new Italian government after being sworn in as the new Italian prime minister. Meloni accepted the mandate to form the new government during a meeting with Italian President, Sergio Mattarella, held behind closed doors in Rome’s Quirinale Palace on Friday afternoon, according to a presidential official. Meloni is set to be sworn in as Italy’s new leader on Saturday at 10am local time.
