Former Fugees rapper begins trial for illegally lobbying $100 million in DC
Federal authorities claim former Fugees rapper Pras Michel attempted to illegally influence two presidential administrations on behalf of Malaysian billionaire Jho Low. Prosecutors say Michel took $100 million from Low to finance then-President Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign, and also tried to get President Donald Trump’s administration to drop investigations against the Malaysian businessman. The rapper’s trial began Thursday, where he faces 11 charges.
