Trump will appear on Colorado primary ballot, state official confirms

The Colorado Supreme Court in December disqualified Trump, determining that his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Riot rendered him ineligible for office under the "insurrection" provision in the 14th Amendment.

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold on Friday confirmed that former President Donald Trump will appear on the Republican primary ballot after the Supreme Court agreed to hear his appeal of a Colorado Supreme Court ruling disqualifying him.

"Colorado’s 2024 Presidential primary ballot is certified. The United States Supreme Court has accepted the case, and Donald Trump will appear on the ballot as a result," Griswold posted on X.

The Colorado Supreme Court in December disqualified Trump, determining that his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot rendered him ineligible for office under the "insurrection" provision in the 14th Amendment.

Trump filed his appeal on Wednesday and the court agreed to take the case on Friday, setting oral arguments for Feb. 8.

The Colorado GOP independently appealed the ruling to the Supreme Court in December, after which Griswold stated that she would included Trump on the ballot on the Jan. 5 deadline, unless the Supreme Court declined to hear the case.
