Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez heckled during town hall over New York's migrant crisis
One of the hecklers announced that he was going to run against her for her congressional seat.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., was met with hecklers during a town hall earlier this week over the state's migrant crisis.
While Ocasio-Cortez was discussing policies such as the Green New Deal in Queens on Thursday, two hecklers interrupted her and said she cared more about illegal immigrants than her constituents, according to Fox News.
One of the hecklers announced that he was going to run against her for her congressional seat. He also spoke out against the Green New Deal.
"My name is Jonathan David Rinaldi, and I'm running for Congress against AOC. The Green New Deal is a scam," Rinaldi yelled during Ocasio-Cortez's speech.
"They’re giving the NYCHA apartments away, they’re giving illegal aliens $10,000 a day… I want you to debate me AOC, debate me," he added.
Another heckler yelled, "secure the border now."
Both men were eventually removed from the event.
New York has seen a huge rise in illegal immigrants over the past year, specifically New York City where Mayor Eric Adams has been forced to secure housing for each due to the city's right-to-shelter mandate.
