GOP Sen. Cornyn backs Trump in wake of NH primary: 'I have seen enough'
"I have seen enough. To beat Biden, Republicans need to unite around a single candidate, and it’s clear that President Trump is Republican voters’ choice," Cornyn declared on X.
Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn on Tuesday endorsed former President Donald Trump for president in 2024, contending that he would become the eventual party nominee in the wake of his projected victory in the New Hampshire primary.
The Associated Press projected Trump to win the Granite State primary shortly after polls closed around 8:00 p.m. The result was a major blow to former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, who had emerged as the sole remaining Republican challenger to Trump of any standing. His victory evidently convinced some holdouts to rally behind his candidacy.
"I have seen enough. To beat Biden, Republicans need to unite around a single candidate, and it’s clear that President Trump is Republican voters’ choice," Cornyn declared on X. "Four more years of failed domestic policies like the Biden Border Crisis and record-high inflation, and failed foreign policies that have emboldened our adversaries and made the world a more dangerous place, must be stopped."
"I am proud of our accomplishments in President Trump’s first term, including the confirmation of 234 federal judges, including three members of the United States Supreme Court; passing historic tax reform, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act; unleashing our energy potential; and ushering in the best economy for all Americans in my lifetime," he continued. "I will be continuing to work to elect a Republican Senate majority and to elect President Trump in 2024."
Haley, for her part, has vowed to press on with her own campaign. Trump on Tuesday dismissed her as "DELUSIONAL!!!"
