Former Kentucky AG Cameron says ESG is destroying America's energy independence
"We want companies to steer back to the middle," Cameron said.
Former Kentucky GOP Attorney General Daniel Cameron says that ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) policies are aimed at destroying America's energy independence.
"At the end of the day, ESG is an acronym that really is about destroying this country's energy independence, and bolstering the ability of our foreign adversaries to make us dependent on their energy resources," Cameron said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show.
ESG policies encourage companies to invest to promote progressive causes, such as fighting climate change and increasing diversity, which critics argue prevents the companies from fulfilling their fiduciary duty to their investors.
Cameron is the CEO of the 1792 Exchange, which has a mission of developing "policy and resources to protect and equip non-profits, small businesses and philanthropy from 'woke' corporations."
"We want companies to steer back to the middle, back to making good, high quality products for hard working Americans all across this country," Cameron said. "That's what 1792 is about."
Cameron explained that if ESG is implemented, the return on investment for ordinary Americans won't be at its best.
"As the attorney general of Kentucky, I broke it down like this: it's about making sure that the return on investment to teachers, firefighters and police officers is as best as it can be," he said. "The way in which you ensure that return on investment is good, is to move away from virtue signaling and supporting ESG."
