States in the Northeast and the Midwest are expected to be hit with "dangerously hot temperatures" in the coming days, as officials warn residents to be safe.
States that are expected to get extreme heat include Maine, Kansas and Ohio, according to CBS News.

The National Weather Service warned that the heat is expected to ramp up starting Sunday.
"High temperatures are forecast to peak near daily record values throughout the Ohio Valley and Northeast Mon-Thurs, with max heat indices approaching 105 degrees," the service warned.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention put out some tips for people to stay safe such as drinking water, using a stove less and wearing loose fitting clothing.
