Rural fire department crippled after lithium-ion battery fire destroys station and equipment

A rural fire station in Maine remains out of commission nearly two months after being heavily damages by lithium-ion battery fire 

Multiple lithium ion batteries that were charging caught fire in May at the Stacyville fire station, according to the Bangor Daily News

No firefighters were in the building at the time of the incident, but the fire damaged the station, three fire trucks and gear. 

The fire left the department without any usable equipment, and the station remains unable to respond to calls, the Daily News also reports. The department is navigating the insurance process, and fire departments in neighboring communities are responding to calls in Stacyville while the process is complete.
