Comer demands Energy Secretary Granholm testify before his House Oversight committee
Over the past two months, according to the letter, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm hasn’t made herself available for any proposed hearing dates, and instead offered to send David Turk, deputy secretary of the DOE.
The chairman of the GOP-led Committee on Oversight and Accountability is demanding Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm testify before the panel after thus far having made herself unavailable.
According to a letter from Chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the panel is seeking more information on what is perceives as an increased risk of waste and fraud within the Energy Department, the possible misuse of the nation’s energy stockpiles, the Biden administration’s decision to halt liquified natural gas export permits, and Granholm’s taxpayer-funded electric-vehicle road trip.
Over the past two months, according to the letter, Granholm hasn’t made herself available for any proposed hearing dates and instead offered to send David Turk, deputy secretary of the DOE.
“It is unacceptable that over the course of two months, for dates provided by the committee months into the future, the department is unable to perform a basic scheduling function to confirm whether you are available or not available,” Comer states in the letter.
A hearing has now been scheduled for May 15, and Comer is asking Granholm to confirm she will be able to testify.
