Vivek Ramaswamy calls for Harris to apologize for fanning the 'flames of political violence'

Billionaire and former Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy on Wednesday called for Vice President Kamala Harris to apologize after she went on an anti-Donald Trump rant, which he claimed fanned the "flames of political violence."

Ramaswamy, who ran for the Republican nomination for president this year, claimed that the vice president's rhetoric on Wednesday was "irresponsible" because of the recent assassination attempts against Trump. 

The former president survived an assassination attempt in July that resulted in an injury when the bullet grazed his ear, and the United States Secret Service foiled a second attack in September.

Harris criticized Trump in an address from the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C., where she claimed that Trump "invoked Adolf Hitler," after Trump's former chief of staff John Kelly said the former president had said he wanted generals who were loyal to him like Hitler had.

“Comparing Trump to ‘Hitler’ is not only insane, it’s irresponsible given the near-tragedies we’ve seen in recent months,” Ramaswamy told The Tennessee Star. “Our country is already skating on thin ice, we can’t afford to fan the flames of political violence just 13 days before an election. This is un-American and I’m calling on Kamala Harris to correct her mistake by apologizing immediately.”

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung also claimed Harris's "dangerous rhetoric" since becoming the Democratic nominee was "directly to blame for the multiple assassination attempts against President Trump."

“She is despicable and her grotesque behavior proves she is wholly unfit for office," he added.
