Trump to endorse GOP Congressman Mo Brooks in Alabama Senate race, reports
A Trump endorsement in a Red state such as Alabama in a 2022 Senate race could be a big help for Brooks.
Former President Trump is set Wednesday to endorse GOP Rep. Mo Brooks in the 2022 Alabama Senate race, according to several news reports.
"Few Republicans have as much COURAGE and FIGHT as Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks,” Trump said in a statement to be released Wednesday morning and obtained by Politico.
Trump in the statement also called Brooks a "great Conservative Republican leader, who will stand up for America First no matter what obstacles the Fake News Media, RINOs, or Socialist Democrats may place in his path."
Brooks is running for the seat of retiring Republican Sen. Richard Shelby.
Brooks has been a solid Trump ally on Capitol Hill and is considered among the most conservative members of the House Republican Conference. Though Trump did not immediate endorse Brooks when he announced his bid a fews weeks ago, his backing was largely expected, considering former top Trump aide Stephen Miller joined Brooks in his announcement.
