Gov. Newsom says he's 'told everyone in the White House' he won't challenge Biden
"He not only beat Trump once, I think he can beat him again," Newsom said about Biden.
Gov. Gavin Newsom said he has "told everyone in the White House" that he has no plans to challenge President Joe Biden and that he would support the 80-year-old commander-in-chief's possible reelection bid.
The California Democratic governor said he "hopes" Biden runs for reelection, Politico reported Saturday. "I’ll enthusiastically support him," Newsom said.
"He not only beat Trump once, I think he can beat him again," Newsom said about Biden's possible rematch against former President Donald Trump.
Newsom, who has been considered a possible Democratic presidential contender, said, "I've told everyone in the White House, from the chief of staff to the first lady" about his support for Biden.
Reports surfaced in September that Newsom is planning to run for president in 2024 if Biden does not.
