Doug Emhoff allegedly slapped NYC girlfriend in 2012 for flirting with another man

Second gentlemen Doug Emhoff is being accused by three unnamed sources of "forcefully slapping" his then-girlfriend in 2012 for flirting with another man at an event at the Cannes Film Festival in France.

The Daily Mail, which first reported the story on Wednesday, said the alleged victim, a New York City attorney, declined to comment on record for fear of retaliation.

The story also includes photos, shared by the sources with the outlet, of the 59-year-old Emhoff appearing with the alleged victim.

The incident was reportedly sparked by the victim putting her hand on the shoulder of a car valet. The sources for the story said Emhoff slapped the victim in response.

Emhoff reportedly began dating Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris in 2013, shortly after this incident allegedly occurred.

Harris’ office did not respond to a request for comment. 

Emhoff has admitted to cheating on his first wife, and mother of his two children, with a woman who taught at his daughter's grade school. A Daily Mail story from August pointed out that he allegedly impregnated the woman, who did not keep the child. The story from Wednesday, citing sources, said she had lost the baby.
