DeSantis catapults himself into leadership, but still has a lot to prove, says journalist Lou Dobbs
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis achieves a massive win in Florida, sparking presidential buzz.
With Ron DeSantis being talked about as a possible presidential candidate for the Republican Party, Lou Dobbs says he has some things to prove before that can happen.
"Ron DeSantis had an exemplary performance and delivered extraordinary results," said Dobbs on Wednesday's "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "He has put himself forward certainly as a national figure."
According to Dobbs, a journalist and host of the Great American Show, it is too early to determine if or when Florida's GOP governor has a presidential run in his future.
"I do think it is premature for anyone to start clamoring for a presidential or candidacy run for the governor," Dobbs stated. "He has much to prove and certainly in the polling runs very much behind President Trump."
Gov. DeSantis won re-election during the midterms by a margin of 57% to 42% over former Gov. Charlie Crist. According to Politico, that is the widest margin in a Florida gubernatorial race since Jeb Bush's win by nearly 13 points in 2002.
"We have rewritten the political map," DeSantis said during his election night party. "Thank you for honoring us with a win for the ages."
Besides Governor DeSantis's major victory, Florida Republicans also picked up some House seats. Laurel Lee won the seat in District 15 and Anna Paulina Luna won the seat in District 13.
