Trump touts plan to protect college students in campaign video
"Our secret weapon will be the college accreditation system," he said.
Former President Donald Trump has released a campaign video outlining his plan to protect students from the pervasive influence of the far-left on college campuses.
The Tuesday campaign video is part of the Agenda47 series through which the former president has begun to articulate his plans for a second term in the White House in detail.
"For many years tuition costs at colleges and universities have been exploding... while academics have been obsessed with indoctrinating America's youth," he declared. "The time has come to reclaim our once great educational institutions from the radical left and we will do that."
"Our secret weapon will be the college accreditation system," he went on. "When I return to the White House, I will fire the radical left accreditors that have allowed our colleges to become dominated by Marxist maniacs and lunatics."
He then indicated that he would hire new accreditors to impose "real standards" on educational institutions, which would include "defending the American tradition and western civilization, protecting free speech, eliminating wasteful administrative positions that drive up costs... removing all Marxist diversity, equity, and inclusion bureaucrats."
Trump further outlined proposals, such as requiring that schools "[offer] options for accelerated and low-cost degrees, [provide] meaningful job placement and career services, and [implement] college entrance and exit exams to prove students are actually learning and getting their money's worth."
He further indicated he would use the Department of Justice to pursue civil rights cases against institutions that pursued discriminatory practices and vowed to use the budget reconciliation process to impose fines on schools up to the amounts of their endowments.
