Christie won't drop out, blasts Sununu over support for Haley
"Anybody thinks I’m getting out of this race, they're crazy," Christie said Wednesday.
Former New Jersey GOP Gov. Chris Christie and New Hampshire GOP Gov. Chris Sununu are at loggerheads over the former's presidential campaign and its prospects for success.
Sununu, who has endorsed former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, said Christie's campaign was at an "absolute dead end," during a weekend appearance on CNN. Christie currently boasts 3.3% support for the Republican nomination in the RealClearPolitics polling average, but averages 10.5% in New Hampshire.
A fellow critic of former President Donald Trump, Sununu has not called on Christie to drop out, but suggested that such a move would permit his fellow anti-Trump Republicans to consolidate around Haley and potentially secure a win.
"I’m not calling Chris Christie and saying you absolutely have to get out. I think he’s just smart enough to see the writing on the wall to know that he has a great opportunity here not just to get behind Nikki, but to do something really important for the country and the party and start moving us forward," he said at a recent Haley campaign event.
"Anybody thinks I’m getting out of this race, they’re crazy," Christie said Wednesday on MSNBC.
"Since Chris started to work for Nikki Haley and become an employee of Nikki Haley, it’s not the same Chris Sununu anymore," he further said Tuesday on CNN.
