Former President Donald Trump's White House physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, said in a letter Saturday that the 45th president is recovering well from the assassination attempt and it's a miracle that he's alive.

"I have been with President Trump since that time, and I have evaluated and treated his wound daily," Jackson said in the letter. "He is doing well. As reported and witnessed by the entire world, he sustained a gunshot wound to the right ear from a high powered rifle used by the would be assassin."

He said that the swelling in Trump's ear has resolved and the wound is healing properly.

Last week, there was an assassination attempt on Trump's life at a rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania. Two other people were wounded and one person died.

Trump was initially treated at Butler Memorial Hospital after the incident. Jackson said he will continue to have more evaluations.

"In summary, former President Trump is doing well, and he is recovering as expected from the gunshot wound sustained last Saturday afternoon," Jackson's letter reads. "I am extremely thankful his life was spared. It is an absolute miracle he wasn't killed."
