Trump says in recently released Atlantic interview he now 'runs the country and the world'
President Donald Trump previously announced on Truth Social that he would sit down with The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg for the interview and agreed to it "out of curiosity."
President Donald Trump said in an interview with The Atlantic released Monday that he "runs the country and the world."
His comment was in response to a question about his first and now second presidential term.
"The first time, I had two things to do – run the country and survive. I had all these crooked guys," he said. "And the second time, I run the country and the world."
Trump also said he is "having a lot of fun," considering what he does, which is "such serious stuff."
The Atlantic's White House sources confirmed that Trump appears to have more fun in his second term.
During the interview, Trump also praised Amazon founder Jeff Bezos for trying to make the Washington Post a more right-leaning newspaper and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg for being "great."
He also argued that Democrats no longer have a leader, committed to adhering to Supreme Court rulings and said that he won't run for a third term, after repeatedly suggesting he would, in violation of the U.S. Constitution.
Trump previously announced on Truth Social that he would sit down with The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg for an interview, agreeing to it "out of curiosity," even though Goldberg previously wrote an article after being accidentally added to the Signal chat with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and other government officials.
"Jeffrey is bringing with him Michael Scherer and Ashley Parker, not exactly pro-Trump writers, either, to put it mildly!" Trump wrote before the interview was released, referring to the authors of the interview published on Monday.
